Omega

v2.7

Today we present another quick update for our 4.5 users: Gateway OMEGA 2.7 which brings support for emunand 9.4!

We also want to inform our users that we are still working on native support for sysnand 9.0 – 9.2, so please be patient until we are ready to release!

We try to deliver a smooth experience for our users and this takes time to perfect!

We also inform our users that they MUST NOT UPDATE SYSNAND TO 9.3 OR ABOVE, because we will not be able to support entry to those sysnand versions any time soon.

If you are wondering what native support we will bring for lower than sysnand 9.0, we can tell that after 9.0-9.2 we will start with 8.0-8.1 and gradually work our way down with support for even lower sysnand firmware versions.

v4.0 Alpha

Dear betatesters,

Here it is; GATEWAY ULTRA 4.0 ALPHA

This release is private, ONLY USE ON HARD MOD UNITS !!!
Please use minimum 8G SD card for the console. It is advisable to start with a fresh emu-nand install, but not mandatory.
For this build, A WORKING EMUNAND IS MANDATORY FOR BOTH O3DS and N3DS
Backup your system nand, and always keep a copy of nand.bin on your PC.
When you have a booting 2.x install, prior to running the a9 install + sysnand restore step, it’s a good idea to take a snap shot of your sysnand in case we need to push an update to the a9 payload

v3.7.1

We are back again with another quick update! Here’s what’s new:

* Latest emunand support (10.4) for both o3ds and n3ds
* In-game menu fixed for certain games (Centipede)
* SAV backup and restore added again for CIA games and SaveDataFiler
* L button hex and decimal switch too fast fixed in exact cheat search

With the new firmware update we would like to STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST UPDATING your sysnand to any version higher than 10.3 (i.e. 10.4 or higher), as we will not be able to support sysnand firmware version 10.4 or higher anytime soon.

Currently there exist homebrew methods to downgrade from 10.3 to 9.2, allowing you to use your Gateway card already.
But the downgrade method is not recommended as it is error prone, dangerous and can lead to bricking.
We would like to provide our users with a more safe method, and this is one of the things we are working on.

This means you SHOULD NOT upgrade past 10.3, as you will miss the boat as they say.

That’s it for now, and as always, ENJOY!

v3.7

Today we are back with another BIG update! Let’s see what is new:
Latest emunand (10.3) support for New 3DS!
Cheat code edit bug fixed
That’s right! From the start we promised you New 3DS emunand support for later firmware versions after 9.6, and today is that day!
We always deliver and with this new update you can finally update emunand on New 3DS to the latest 10.3 firmware!

We also fixed a bug in when trying to edit an existing cheat code from the cheat config menu, as it was not always showing the proper code.

That’s it for now, and more to come soon!

And as always, ENJOY!

v3.6.2

And we are back again with another update! Let’s see what’s new:

– Save edited and found cheats to microSD
– Choose custom in-game button activator
– Added warning in Reset search
– Fixed memory search freeze
– Fixed language switch bug
– Fixed long cheat description bug
– Fixed 16-bit conditional mask support, useful for 8bit conditionals
– Cheat finder exact search cancel support
– Cheat code type Exxxxxxx support (patch code)
– Cheat nested conditionals support

Now you can save the codes entered in the cheatcode editor back to microSD!

In the cheatcode editor, simply press START to save the current code list to a new cheat code.
Or, configure the cheatlist and press X to edit or press Y to remove the current highlighted cheat code.
From the hit list, you can now also press X to add the current hit as a code to the cheatcode editor.

These new features should make it a breeze to edit and save codes, all from within the 3DS! No PC needed!

That’s it for now! And as always Enjoy!

v3.6.1

Today we are back with more presents for all! Let’s list a quick summary:

* Introducing the Gateway 3DSX homebrew application!

* Gateway ULTRA 3.6.1 Bugfix Release
– Menu button speed more fine tuned now
– Enabled in-game menu for demo and system applications (such as Mii Plaza)
– Expanded ram dumper / cheats region to 0x3FFFFFFF
– Fixed forced sysnand booting bug (previously defaulted always to emunand)
– Changed menu highlight color to red

We heard your feedback! And today we have already fixed just a few of those things already with Gateway ULTRA 3.6.1.

And that’s not all, we also created GW.3DSX: a nifty little homebrew application that is loaded through the 3DS Homebrew Channel (http://smealum.github.io/3ds/) and provides another way of booting into Gateway mode.
This means you can now choose your favorite entrypoint that works with the Homebrew Channel, such as the popular cold boot menuhax, and boot straight into the Gateway menu!

Note that this currently only works for systems up to sysnand firmware version 9.2, but we are working on that!

That’s right! We can already reveal another surprise that is coming SOON: We will be bringing Gateway support to systems that are on the current LATEST FIRMWARE: 10.3 and lower.
So do not update past this version, because we will not be able to bring support for versions after that any time soon!

Happy Holidays to all, and many thanks to the homebrew dev team and community!

That’s it for now, and as always, Enjoy!

v3.6

Merry Christmas Y’all! Team GATEWAY is back with a nice update for our loyal userbase to enjoy!

Today we present GATEWAY ULTRA v3.6! Read on for more info on the new functionality..
But lets start with the full featurelist:

* Added in-game menu!
– Configure cheats (supports CIA and 3DS formats)
– Search for cheats
– RAM dumper
– Hex editor

* Improved game selection menu!
– Switch game language instantly
– Switch between classic mode and Gateway mode instantly
– Handy SYSNAND/EMUNAND indicator
– Smooth and fluid movements

* Improved cheats!
– More memory (x4!)
– Repeat code Cxxxxxxx fixed

In our last release we gave you a taste of our new cheat engine, today we take it a step further by
putting cheat hacking capabilities in YOUR hands! We’ve added a way of overriding the language auto
detection for games which has been requested a lot! We also got a request to increase the available cheat space,
so we quadrupled it! This should give plenty of space!

You can press the UP key in the game selection menu to get a list of options which allow you to
set the mode and language as well as the activator key you want to use for our brand new in-game menu!

The in-game cheatmenu offers all kinds of exciting functionalities for cheaters and aspiring
hackers. There’s a classic “cheat search” which allows you to scan for 8, 16, 32 bit
values (both signed and unsigned) and lets you select various conditions (greater than, less than,
equal, exact value, etc.) to narrow the number of possible memory locations. Like magic, within
minutes you will be able to find the memory address that holds the player’s lifes and directly
edit the memory from the in-game cheat menu! If that’s not enough, advanced cheat hackers can directly
enter the hex editor and hack away at writable memory regions at will.

Furthermore you can create RAM dumps to the microSD card in the Gateway Red card if you plan to do analysis of these on
your computer rather than use our cheat finder. The format for the dumps files is as follows:
* 32 bit header with number of memory mappings (mapcount)
* mapping info objects [int vaddr, int paddr, int size] (12byte per entry)
* data for each mapping, stored consecutively

Note that most of the ingame functionality requires the Gateway Red card and a microSD with some writable space available
for temporary memory storage.
As always, enjoy! There’s still much more to come! Support the true innovators!

v3.5.1

Today we are back with a quick firmware update!

We would like to thank our users for the prompt feedback of our previous firmware update!
You are always helping us improve and think of new features that we never could have imagined.

Summary:
* Fixed loading issues for CIA based games, classic mode
* Allow bigger ExFAT cluster sizes again
* Teaser for the surprise feature!

Our previous firmware accidentally always enabled our cheat engine, even if you did not enable it.
This caused all kinds of weird issues, but we hope those are all resolved now.

NOTE: We are working on supporting cheats for CIA based games, and it is coming soon.

We also rewrote our filesystem driver from scratch in order to support our surprise feature, and in doing so we
have introduced some minor inconveniences such as added checks for ExFAT cluster sizes.
These are now removed as some users had cluster sizes as big as 32MB.

CURRENT CHEAT DATABASE
======================
Some users did not know what cheats are currently available, so here we list them:

LEGO Star Wars III – The Clone Wars (USA)
Sonic Generations (USA)
Star Fox 64 3D (USA)
The Legend of Zelda – A Link Between Worlds (USA)
Yoshis New Island (USA)

These are mainly as a proof of concept, and we expect many more to come with the help of our users!

CHEAT MEMORY ADDRESSES
======================
Some users also wondered what kind of memory addresses the Gateway 3DS cheat engine expects, so let us be clear:
It expects virtual memory addresses, so that it works on both New 3DS and Old 3DS and for any supported firmware version our users are running.

This means that existing codes used in for example AR3DS, which use physical addresses, need to be converted into virtual addresses.
Unfortunately this kind of conversion is not straightforward.

SPECIAL KEYPAD CODE
===================
As for the Special KEYPAD cheat code, the keypad value can be any combination of the following:

0x1 A
0x2 B
0x4 Select
0x8 Start
0x10 Right
0x20 Left
0x40 Up
0x80 Down
0x100 R
0x200 L
0x400 X
0x800 Y

TEASER TIME!
============

We would like to formally introduce our next upcoming feature that we have in the works: the ingame menu!
With the ingame menu, you pause the game and you will be able to:
* Live edit game memory RAM with an on screen hex editor!
* Live configuration of cheats
* Live search for cheats!
* And many more features that we have planned

See below for our current proof of concept in action!

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/OR_uodJ2mzA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

That’s it for now, and as always, ENJOY!

v3.5

Today we are very proud to present a new firmware update: GATEWAY ULTRA 3.5!

Summary:
* Cheat code support
* Updated emunand support for 10.3 for Old 3DS

We’ve heard your prayers and here it is! Cheat code support for GATEWAY 3DS!

First things first. Our current cheat library is very small and should be
considered more as a proof of concept than anything else. We need you,
cheat hackers and cheaters around the globe to hack us some cool codes.

How, you ask us? That is a question we will soon answer, STAY TUNED. 🙂

And as always, support the innovators not the imitators and ENJOY!

PS: We have noticed some serious and dangerous flaws in an unofficial Gateway emulation plugin,
and we strongly urge to cease using this plugin and only use GENUINE Gateway! You have been warned!
HOW TO USE CHEATS
=================

1. Simply copy the folder “cheats” into the root of your microSD card that will go into the Gateway RED card.
Each file inside the cheats folder will be of the format .txt where TitleID is the title id of the game.

2. Boot into Gateway mode, and press SELECT to make the Gateway game selection menu appear.

3. Select your game and then press Y to enter cheat mode.

4. Enable the cheats you want and then press START to load the game.
CHEAT CODE FORMAT
=================

The GATEWAY 3DS cheatcode format is based on the old ActionReplay DS
code format, the one you all know and love! We added some code types
for your convenience as well!

The following code types are supported:

NOTE: default value of offset and data registers is zero.

Memory Writes:
0XXXXXXX YYYYYYYY – 32bit write to [XXXXXXX + offset]

v3.4.1

And we are back! Today we present Gateway ULTRA 3.4.1: another quick emunand update for Old 3DS!
This release will bring back support for latest 10.1 emunand system firmware for Old 3DS.

We hit an issue regarding converting existing cheat formats for our cheat engine, but we are working on an intermediate solution and we hope it will be ready soon!

And as always ENJOY!

v3.4

Today we are proud to present a new firmware update: Gateway Ultra 3.4!

Summary:
* Fixed new antipiracy check
* Improved firmware spoofing

After we noticed issues surrounding some of the latest game backups not functioning
as 3DS files but working just fine as CIA files, we decided to investigate.

What we discovered was truly remarkable: a new kind of antipiracy check! Yes, that’s right!
This took us five minutes to fix and here we are today.

We also improved the firmware spoofing a bit, as now an additional kernel version check is disabled.
This is mostly useful for New 3DS users that are still on 9.5 emunand and want to play firmware spoofed games that require a higher kernel version.
This fix can also be useful for users that want to keep using an older Gateway Ultra firmware and while still being able to play newer games.

That’s it for today folks!
Support the innovators, and as always ENJOY!

PS: Cheat support is coming! We have a proof of concept ready and we are working on integrating it in the next update.

v3.3

And we are back with another quick emunand update!
Today we present Gateway ULTRA 3.3, to bring support for latest 9.9 emunand system firmware for Old 3DS.

While we are still hard at work at improving our firmware, we hope to have our special new features ready soon!

And as always ENJOY!

v3.2.2

Today we present GATEWAY ULTRA 3.2.2!This is just a quick update for Old 3DS Emunand, bringing support for the latest 9.8 system firmware.
We’re still very busy with many interesting things, more to come soon!

And as always, ENJOY!

v3.2.1

And we’re back with another quick update!

So what’s new this time:
– Updated Blue Card GW_INSTALLER.nds with New 3DS support
– Added option to boot into SYSNAND mode directly even with EMUNAND on SD card
We received plenty of feedback regarding our previous firmware release and we heard you!

In our last release we realised there was no easy way to boot into SYSNAND mode, so we got you covered now!
From now on, while in the Gateway menu with the boot icons visible, simply hold B while booting into Gateway mode or Classic mode!
You will then be asked to confirm booting into SYSNAND mode by pressing X.

We also added the New 3DS support to the Blue Card GW_INSTALLER.nds, so you have another alternative to reinstalling NVRAM other than from our Gateway menu.

That’s it for now, and as always, ENJOY!

v3.2

Today we are back with another update: GATEWAY 3.2 ULTRA!

So let’s see what’s new:
– Latest EMUNAND support for old 3DS (currently version 9.7)
– New 3DS 8.1 JAPAN region now fully supported (multirom menu and so on)
– System Settings 4.5 support for New 3DS!
– Built-in NVRAM installer in the Gateway menu (behaves same as the Blue Card Gateway installer)

From now on, New 3DS users can rejoice that they no longer need to constantly use Cubic Ninja or Zelda Ocarina of Time to boot up into Gateway mode!
With this firmware update, you will be able to boot into Gateway mode using just System Settings, just like on old 3DS! No more extra accessories required once you have done the setup!

Just follow these simple steps:
1) Copy the Gateway 3DS 3.2.0 ULTRA Launcher.dat to your New 3DS microSD card
2) Copy mset_.cia to your New 3DS microSD card (where is your console region)
3) Copy “DevMenu.3ds” to your Gateway 3DS microSD card.
4) Boot into the Gateway menu with your preferred entrypoint (Zelda or Cubic Ninja)
5) Select the new “NVRAM INSTALL” option from the menu, proceed with installation.
6) Once installed, boot into Gateway mode and launch DevMenu.3ds from the multirom menu (press SELECT)
7) Start DevMenu and import mset_.cia from your SD card.
8) Reboot console and verify you can now boot into Gateway mode with the classic System Settings DS Profile method. (Settings -> Profile -> Nintendo DS profile)
9) Enjoy! No more cartridge swapping required to use Gateway 3DS on New 3DS! 🙂

!! IMPORTANT !!
Please make sure to install the *CORRECT* mset cia for your region, we do not recommend this for new users with little experience !!

Please be aware that this downgrades the System Settings application on your SYSNAND, so be wise and
backup your SYSNAND (and setup EMUNAND) using the Gateway menu before you do this.
Note you can always manually install a newer CIA version back of System Settings, but using our Sysnand Restore option is the recommended option.

New 3DS users might also wonder why there is no EMUNAND update yet, and the answer is simply that while we are still making steady progress on this front, there is still alot of work to be done until we get to this point. So we hope our New 3DS users will understand that we cannot give an exact end date for this yet.
Rest assured we will be able to overcome this obstacle!

And as always, ENJOY!

v3.1.1

Today we are back with another update: GATEWAY 3.1.1 ULTRA PUBLIC BETA.

This version fixes a minor bug where the GW3D version tag was not always displayed while in EmuNAND.
Some speculated this was due to fake microSD cards but it turns out this was not the case.

Furthermore today we bring support for launching the Gateway menu for New 3DS users up to firmware 9.2 through the use of the “Cubic Ninja” game!
Owners of a retail copy of “Cubic Ninja” from the USA, EUR or JAP region will be able to use the Gateway 3DS cartridge with New 3DS and enjoy all the cool features as usual!

The installation for the Cubic Ninja launching method works as follows:
* Make sure WiFi is configured and working on your New 3DS (You will only need this once)
* Make sure Gateway 3.1.1 Launcher.dat is placed on the New 3DS microSD card
* Start “Cubic Ninja”
* Go to “Create” menu option
* Select “QR Code”
* Select “Scan QR Code”
* Scan the Gateway Cubic Ninja QR code found in the Downloads section for you region
* After a brief wait, a Cubic Ninja savegame will be installed
* And the Gateway menu will be launched

After this one time installation you can invoke Gateway menu as follows:
* Start “Cubic Ninja”
* Go to “Create” menu option
* Select “QR Code”
* Gateway menu should appear
We also noticed the multirom menu is not working properly on New 3DS 8.1.0J, and community members confirmed
so far that updating EmuNAND to latest firmware fixes this issue as a temporary workaround.

Another pending issue we are working on fixing is the broken “head tracking” functionality
in Gateway mode on New 3DS. However, some clever community members discovered an easy
temporary workaround until we develop a proper fix for this issue: Simply close your New 3DS
lid while in Gateway mode to put the console in sleep mode, re-open the lid and head tracking
should be working again as expected.

Last but not least: We have received a decent amount of feedback with regards to
incompatibility with certain specific versions of “Zelda: Ocarina of Time”.
We are still working on improving compatibility; expect more news soon!

NOTE: Support for launching the Gateway menu through Cubic Ninja or Zelda Ocarina of Time on the Classic 3DS is not implemented yet.
If we get enough interested users we will consider implementing it for the Classic 3DS too.

And as always, ENJOY!

v3.1.0

Today we are proud to present GATEWAY ULTRA 3.1.0 which brings support for the New 3DS, up to firmware 9.2 for regions EUR, USA and JAP!

Every feature of the GATEWAY experience on the original 3DS is supported on New 3DS, such as but not limited to:
– 100% game compatibility
– Multirom menu
– Gateway and Classic mode
– Emunand !
– Eshop application support AND Eshop ROMs support
– Homebrew support
– Savegame backup and restore
– Gamecard dumping
– System nand dumping
– EXFAT and FAT32 support
– Diagnostics
– And many more features

We have spent months trying to find an alternative method that did not require you to have anything extra for New 3DS similar to our original 3DS solution, but we now realise that we should just have released what we have and improve it iteratively!
And that’s exactly what we are doing! We polished our current solution and made it into something we would feel comfortable with to release as a beta.
Keep in mind that finding a more convenient solution for our New 3DS users will remain a priority task to us.
We decided to release this as a public beta, so if you find any serious issues, please let us know.
Our current New 3DS solution is still a work in progress but it is a fully WORKING solution and that’s all that matters currently.

Currently we know there are a few minor issues in our release but we feel these are not serious show stopper bugs to put this beta release on hold.
One example is the paused head tracking and the 3D slider switching incorrectly between 2D and 3D when in Gateway or Classic mode.
But rest assured, we are working on fixing these bugs!

NEW 3DS INSTALL QUICKSTART GUIDE
================================

Requirements:
– A save dongle OR a friend with a original 3DS that can launch our Gateway menu
– A genuine physical gamecard copy of “The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D”
– Gateway 3.1.0 ULTRA Launcher.dat file

1. Drag and drop the Gateway 3.1.0 ULTRA Launcher.dat file to your New 3DS’s internal microSD card, behind the back plate.
2. Locate the savegame for “The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D” for your region in the Gateway 3.1.0 ULTRA release.
3. Restore the savegame to the game: you can either use a generic savegame dongle OR use our Gateway menu’s Restore savegame option with a original 3DS from a friend.
4. Boot up the New 3DS and launch the Zelda game.
5. Select the GATEWAY savegame and Link will be standing inside a tree hut.
6. Simply press A to load the Gateway menu.
You will be greeted with the Gateway menu, and from there you can insert the Gateway card and boot into Gateway mode.
NOTE: We are also working on using Cubic Ninja as a means to load our Gateway menu, please stay tuned for more information soon!
Support the innovators not the imitators, and as always ENJOY!

v3.0.4

Today we present just a quick update for our users with 9.5 emunand. This fixes the multirom menu not showing up and various updates for properly supporting 9.5 emunand.

We also want to inform our users about some news regarding emunand support for the New 3DS:
We will not be able to support emunand 9.5 or higher for a while on the New 3DS. This is only an issue for the New 3DS, the old 3DS and 2DS will never have this issue. This is not a definitive barrier, but we feel it necessary to inform our users that while we are still working on releasing our New 3ds support, we will not be able to provide support yet for 9.5 emunand or higher for New 3DS on release.

And as always ENJOY!

v3.0.3

Today we present Gateway ULTRA 3.0.3 which fixes region detection for the Taiwan region.

Previously the TWN region was erroneously detected as CHN (iQue), and it was accepting the CHN dgpack while it should only accept the TWN dgpack.

As we mentioned before we want to caution users using the downgrade feature: it is a dangerous operation as it will write to sysnand and if something goes wrong it may brick your 3DS.
We currently recommend that ONLY USERS WITH A NAND MOD try this, and report back any issues.

Only when there are no more issues reported then we will consider it safe.

And as always ENJOY!

v3.0.2

Today we present Gateway ULTRA 3.0.2 which fixes 4.5+ support for our users from China (iQue), Korea (KOR) and Taiwan (TWN)!
There is still more to come and as always, ENJOY!

v3.0.1

We would like to say thanks to our users for testing the public beta and reporting bugs.
We are still working through the feedback but so far we have already fixed the SPI Test bug in Diagnostics menu,
and released it as Gateway ULTRA 3.0.1, available in the Downloads section.

The downgrade packs have now also been added to the Downloads section, please download the proper dgpack for your region if you want to downgrade.

We want to caution users using the downgrade feature: it is a dangerous operation as it will write to sysnand and if something goes wrong it may brick your 3DS.
We currently recommend that ONLY USERS WITH A NAND MOD try this, and report back any issues.

If you want to restore your NAND.BIN from SD Card to sysnand, simply hold UP when entering the Downgrade menu will launch the restore menu.
This can be used to go back to your original NAND, such as before downgrading.

As always ENJOY!

v3.0

Today we are proud to present our latest achievement: GATEWAY ULTRA!
With GATEWAY ULTRA we support ALL 3DS/2DS/3DS XL consoles on sysnand firmware starting from 4.5 and all the way up to 9.2!

This release also contains an update for the Red Gateway card with:
– improved support for microSD cards
– faster write speeds
– and a surprise feature that will be announced in the next update!

As an extra bonus, we have added support for:
– DOWNGRADING your 5.0->9.2 console back to 4.5!
– RESTORING a NAND dump back to sysnand!

For users on firmware 4.5 or above, you can trigger the Gateway boot method by launching the Browser Application, and visiting the following site:
* http://go.gateway-3ds.com

Make sure the Launcher.dat file is placed on the big SD Card (internal to the 3DS console) when visiting the site.

The Launcher file can be found in the Downloads section [here], and downgrade packs for the different console regions will be added shortly!

We also have the following notes:
* It may be needed for some users to clear cookies and history in the Browser Application for proper activation.
* We also recommend that users bookmark this site for convenience.
* Support for New 3DS is still a work in progress, please be patient!

As always support the innovators not the imitators and ENJOY!
